Privacy Policy
Last Updated: April 7, 2026
At RevPDF, your privacy is our top priority. Our app is designed to be offline-first, ensuring that your documents and data stay on your device. However, certain technical requirements differ between our Desktop and Mobile versions as outlined below.
1. No Personal Data Collection
RevPDF does not require you to create an account, sign up, or provide any personal information (such as your name, email address, or phone number) to use the app. We do not track your identity or build a profile of your usage across any platform.
2. Document Privacy
All PDF processing, editing, merging, and compression happen locally on your device using our native C++ engine. No documents are ever uploaded to our servers or any third-party cloud services. Your files remain 100% under your control on macOS, Linux, Android, and iOS.
3. Offline Functionality & Internet Usage
RevPDF is built to work offline. All PDF editing, merging, compression, and conversion happens locally on your device. However, the app may use an internet connection in the following specific, limited circumstances:
- Desktop (macOS, Linux, Windows): The desktop version is 100% free and ad-free. The only circumstance in which the desktop app may use the internet is font loading — when a document requires a font not installed on your device. See Section 5 for the full details of how this works and how you are notified before any connection is made.
- Mobile (Android & iOS): In addition to font loading (same process as desktop), the mobile app may connect to the internet to: (a) display banner advertisements for non-premium users via Google AdMob; and (b) process in-app purchase transactions through Google Play or the Apple App Store. No internet connection is required for any PDF editing functionality.
In all cases, your PDF documents are never transmitted over the internet. Only font file assets are downloaded when needed, and only with your prior knowledge and consent.
4. Third-Party Services (Mobile Only)
On mobile devices, we use the following services which may collect data according to their own policies:
- Google AdMob (Android/iOS): We show banner ads to non-premium mobile users. AdMob may use advertising identifiers (like Android Advertising ID or IDFA) to serve ads.
- In-App Billing (Google Play / Apple App Store): Premium upgrades are handled securely by the respective app stores. We do not see or store your payment details.
5. Dynamic Font Loading
When you open a document that uses a font not already installed on your device, RevPDF attempts to resolve it in the following order, using the least-invasive source first:
- Step 1 — On-device fonts: The app first searches fonts already installed on your operating system or device. No internet connection is used.
- Step 2 — Google Fonts GitHub repository: If the font is not found on-device, the app
attempts to download it directly from Google's open-source font repository hosted on GitHub
(
github.com/google/fonts). This avoids the Google Fonts API and its associated tracking. - Step 3 — Google Fonts API (last resort): Only if the font cannot be retrieved through either of the above sources does the app fall back to the Google Fonts API.
Before making any external network request (Steps 2 or 3), you will be shown an in-app dialog clearly identifying the font being requested and the external service being contacted. You may decline the connection at any time, in which case the app will use a fallback system font.
No document content or personal data is transmitted during font loading. Only a font file identifier is sent to the external service — the same request any browser makes when loading a web font.
6. Premium Status
For mobile users, your "Premium" status is linked to your Google Play or Apple ID account. No other personal data is shared with us during this process. Desktop users enjoy all features for free with no account or billing required.
7. Changes to This Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page.
